Head of School Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

On behalf of the Governors, staff and pupils you are very welcome to Culmstock Primary School’s website. We feel it is important for you to know and understand what is happening in our school.

We believe that children should live and learn in a happy, secure and stimulating environment. A school where they are valued as individuals, encouraged to grow in self-esteem and given the opportunities they deserve to reach their potential.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum which bases equal emphasis on the academic, social, physical and emotional needs of each child.

We value the partnership between home and school and the crucial role it plays in each child’s development. By working closely with parents, our aim is to foster a love of learning, a sharing of celebration and a readiness for the challenges ahead.

As a school we follow the Culmstock Way Values that support the calm, nurturing and understanding environment of our community.

Mrs Clare Nevinson

Head of School

SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT

Culmstock  Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the policies section of our website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies, when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

SAFEGUARDING IS EVERYONES RESPONSIBILITY

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Clare Nevinson and is supported by Mr Martin O'Mahony (Executive Head of the Culm Valley Federation). The Governor with responsibility for safeguarding is Mr David Major.

If you have concerns for a child’s immediate safety or welfare and you believe urgent action is required, please contact MASH on 03451551071 and give as much information as you can. For further information visit www.devonsafeguardingchildren.org this website aims to provide information for parents, carers and anyone who works with children and young people.
